138 days until SGC

Space Generation Congress

Each year, delegates made up of students and young professionals from around the world, participate in selected project groups at SGC chosen by SGAC in May. We have restructured the entire process of SGC to create a more effective and productive atmosphere before, during, and after the congress. SGC is seeking the best and brightest from around the world to be the future leaders in space.

Each project has a designated lead who has set an overall goal to be achieved and several milestones along the way to achieve that goal. From January through April, delegates will work together virtually from around the world to start their projects. In addition to the online application form, the quality of their work will be part of the application review process.

From April through September, the delegates will focus more of their time on their specific projects. At the congress, time will be split into three categories; project group time, speakers, and leadership and skills development.

Project group time will be several periods on each day where the groups will meet individually to discuss a specific topic related to their project. The leads, in collaboration with their groups, will create an agenda for each of the project group time periods prior to arriving at the congress. For example, one group may spend two or three of its time slots identifying new methods to spread news of events, jobs, and opportunities in space beyond current methods. Another group may spend the same period discussing how to judge a technical paper competition they are hosting.

A series of industry leaders will be joining SGC to discuss topics such as the history of the Space Generation, how space benefits all people, and how individuals can be more involved in space even if they are not scientists and engineers. The industry leaders will be available to the delegates for small discussions and will also mingle with the project group to offer their expert advice from years of experience.

The leadership and skills development sessions at SGC will help delegates develop skills that are crucial to leading the space industry. Industry professionals will join SGC to give delegates tools specific to managing space projects and businesses that might not be similar to other industries such as working on an international level or starting a space entertainment company.

General Schedule
Below is a general schedule of the 2007 Congress, each year varies slightly. Delegates will be able to participate in more than one project group online prior to the Congress, but will need to focus on one group at the Congress due to scheduling.
